If you're interested in a day trip sightseeing in Singapore, they make it very, very easy.  You can get a 24-hour transit visa issued in the airport.  There's a train or easy cab ride into town.  Singapore is great for food, foliage, shopping.  It's super clean (don't chew gum there though)
